Iowa Appraisal Institute Chapter Hosts National Premiere of Short-Term Rental Class

The Iowa Chapter of the Appraisal Institute hosted the premiere of the Short-Term Rental class on May 9th and 10th in Des Moines and Iowa City. Executive Director Shauna Gehring arranged the back-to-back classes to serve the appraisers spread out across Iowa.

The STR class is a new continuing education class offered by the Appraisal Institute. Jason Ferris, MAI, SRA, the developer of the course, instructed the classes. The course covers the concepts and valuation best practices for the valuation of properties that have a short-term rental component, typically renting through AirBNB and VRBO platforms.

My fellow appraisers welcomed us like family and I look forward to returning in a few years to teach this class again.
