2026 Tax Appeal Season Wrap-Up

Published by Jason Ferris on

This year, we took 15 properties to Jefferson County PVA for tax appeal. My clients hired me to appraise their properties at a current market value and present that information to the PVA Board in an attempt to lower the assessment to market value.

Of the 15 properties, our clients saw reductions in the assessment of 12 properties.

The total appraised value of the properties was $56,366,600. Based on our work this year, our clients will save $233,138 in annual taxes. If you consider that most properties get reassessed every 3 to 4 years, that is a potential savings of $700,000 to $930,000.

As a side note, 7 of the 15 properties were commercial properties; 8 of the 15 were residential homes and residential lots.
